Kya Crafts is one of NPO “Project Purpose’s” upliftment and skills development projects. The project empowers ladies in the informal settlement of Kya Sands with gaining financial independence and management skills through crocheting projects.

Pullamithi
The Christmas gift from Kya Crafts has arrived. Meet Pullamithi, a one-of-a-kind giraffe you won’t find on SHEIN, Temu, or anywhere else.
By bringing Pullamithi into your home, you’re also uplifting the Kya Craft ladies in Kya Sands. Every order helps them go home for Christmas and give their families something extra.
Pullamithi stands over half a meter long from the tip of his horns to the bottom of his hoofs, and comes with dress-up accessories to spark imagination and storytelling, including a Christmas stocking, a stripy scarf, festive earrings, and a magic holly wreath that makes his horns grow.
He’s an interactive toy too, with pull-out horns and legs to make playtime extra fun.

Melissah escaped an abusive marriage and returned to Joburg. She’s working online but struggling, needing data, groceries, and R1000/month for transport to a supportive office space while seeking stable work.

From Neglect to Knowledge: 2024 with Melissah’s family
Justin and Melissah opened up their home to two abandoned children – a brother and sister, we will call them S and N, who have now been living with them for a year.
S is 10 turning 11 and is a budding soccer player and part of an after school soccer club called Golden Arrows that practices at Heronbridge College four times a week.
N has just blossomed and is learning so much.

From Neglect to Knowledge: Empowering an Abandoned Child’s Journey to Education
We got to know Melissah back in July 2018 for the first time when she needed an eye operation to restore her sight, and over the years have gotten to know her better and she’s such a beautiful person, super resourceful and an avid learner. She and Justin have a little second hand shop and they have two lovely daughters. Melissah has never asked for anything ever for herself, but she’s always doing things for others and helping her community.
