We are so proud of Sully, who worked hard last year and passed her learner’s license! It’s her dream to become a carer, but job opportunities have been limited — and a driver’s license could open many doors.

That’s why our Hand-Up Project this Mandela Month is called Project Driving Lessons.

We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Natasha from The Driving Corporation. Natasha isn’t just an experienced instructor — she’s full of patience and wisdom, exactly what Sully needs as an older learner driver.

When we reached out, Natasha reminded us that teaching someone like Sully isn’t a quick 10-lesson journey.

Unlike 18-year-olds who grew up being driven to school every day, older learners often start from scratch, learning what others take for granted.

But with time and support, Sully can do it — and Natasha is committed to walking this road with her.

Here’s how you can help this Mandela Month:

1. Invite Sully for a practice drive. She has her learner’s license, so you can legally take her for a lesson. Contact her at 072 566 3798.

2. Sponsor a professional lesson. We’ve secured a special discounted rate of R350 per lesson through Natasha. Donate via our website, below

3. Let’s rally behind Sully and give her the chance to drive toward her dreams. Together, we can make her journey possible.
